While livability is a subjective concept that may take on different definitions for different people, some elements of a community can come close to being universally beneficial…With this in mind, SmartAsset ranked small U.S. cities to find the most “livable.”

Data & Methodology
To find the most livable small cities in America, SmartAsset compared 281 cities with a population between 65,000 and 100,000 across eight metrics:
- Housing costs as % of household income
- % residents below poverty line
- Unemployment rate
- % residents with health insurance
- Average commute time
- Arts, entertainment and recreation establishments
- Accommodations and food services
- Healthcare
